Injured Climber Treatment Problem

The example used here is described in detail in the TreeAge Pro user's manual. A rock climber has suffered a serious ankle fracture and gangrene has set in, and a treatment decision must be made immediately. The choices are to treat with antibiotics or amputate the foot. Choosing antibiotic treatment risks complications (most likely of which is the loss of the leg below the knee) in exchange for a chance of saving the foot. The efficacy of the antibiotic is uncertain, so a sensitivity analysis can be performed on this parameter.

Prior to analysis, it is possible to change default baseline values for important variables, entering patient-specific probabilities and utilities.
