The underlying decision tree used in the following application was created in TreeAge Pro, based on an article from the July-September 1999 issue of Medical Decision Making ("Correlations in Uncertainty Analysis for Medical Decision Making: An application to Heart-valve Replacement"). The tree is a Markov model used to support the choice of aortic heart valve replacement. The original model was written in Pascal.

This DATA version of the model represents all states and values used in the original model, including probabilities, odds ratios, and distribution parameters. (To keep this demonstration relatively simple, though, only selected parameters have been implemented using probability distributions in addition to point estimates. Also, mortality rates were not made gender specific.)

TreeAge Pro Interactive allows the user to update any model values prior to analysis, in order to reflect outcomes and demographic data appropriate for a particular patient, population or clinical setting.
